As usual, the number of chapters is constantly shifting and changing on me. Writing with a rough outline is definitely easier than writing entirely by the seat of my pants, but I still end up with a lot of changes. Okay, so... I don't normally write fusions. The idea for this started as an RP years ago, and has stayed with me ever since. I'm having trouble writing much of anything at the moment, so I'm jumping on anything that I can get excited about. Much thanks to ![[info]](http://l-stat.livejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif) killiana for RPing this idea with me in the first place, and for giving me permission to make a fic out of it. What this IS: a fic about FFVII characters, as if they had grown up on Spira rather than Gaia. It is a fusion, not a crossover. There are some obvious parallels, and some things that I've changed completely. This is still my pre-Crisis Core-release concept of these three characters, though I've included a few elements from CC as well. At the moment it's planned to be gen, (with some mention of and leaning towards canon het pairings, ie Zack/Aerith and Cloud/Tifa. Please do not bitch to me about the inclusion of these pairings. I like them, they're an integral part of the characterization, and there won't be anything blatant. Deal.) But we all know how fast things can turn yaoi in my stories. ;p What this is NOT: a retelling of FFX events with the FFVII characters inserted in place of the originals. Obviously places and certain events are the same, but the plot is entirely constructed around the FFVII characters. There are no appearances of any FFX main characters. This is not one of my 'RP-style' stories; it is written as a true narrative and is only loosely related to the original RP we wrote. I'm replaying FFX now to remind me of the settings and situations, but there may be errors in this story for things I haven't found again in the game. I finished playing the game a little while ago, and I really love Roxis and Vayne together. I think the hardest part of this was deciding whether to use the Japanese names or the English ones. I had it on the Japanese voices while I played (yay Ishida Akira! Why don't all games have this option???), so that's what I heard in my head. I can understand changing the spelling of Nike and Mupe, but why did they change Philomel to Jessica and Gunnar to Flay? o.O I have a few other ideas for these two, but I don't know if I'll get around to writing them. Aaaand this is the fic I'd actually intended to post today. It's the one responsible for making me finish Foresight all in one sitting... I know, I know. *sweatdrops* I finally had a chance to rewatch ep 60 of D.Gray-man, and discovered I'd forgotten a few very, very important details. So chap 16 & 17 need to be rewritten. While I'm working on them, here! Have a new fandom. A het one, at that. *sweatdrops* Does anybody know if there's an official age for the main characters yet? The Star Clan was wiped out thirteen years ago and Black Star was 'a baby' at the time, so he can't be more than 14. Justin Law is 17 according to the wiki article, and he looks significantly older than them. I'm guessing Liz is the oldest at maybe 15-16, Kid and Tsubaki are 14-15, and the others are 13-14, but it's so hard to tell for sure. Aargh, why must I get dragged into fandoms like Soul Eater and Naruto where the characters are too damned young for what I want to do with them? ;p Still feeling my way into these characters, so if you spot any glaring OOC-ness or inconsistencies, please let me know. We just finished the first of our two week master classes at school; this one was millinery. I didn't expect to be terribly interested in it, hats have never really been my thing. But omg it was so much FUN! Partly because our teacher was awesome, but partly because it really is interesting. We made three complete hats in two weeks; one buckram/plastic fabric covered hat, one fosshape helmet, and one felt bonnet. Fabric hat:  Helmet:  (you can see my classmate Barbara in the background working on her helmet - her hats put the rest of us to shame!) Bonnet:  (thanks to my classmate Danae for modelling. Does anyone know if there's a site which is to D.Gray-man as leafninja.com is to Naruto? When I went to check some details on the Wiki article, I discovered it had been completely revamped and a lot of the information I count on - such as specifics about each person's known attacks - has either been removed or put somewhere I can't find it. -_- Also, does anyone know the official spelling of the name of Lavi's Innocence? When I wrote the chapter when I first mentioned it, Wiki said it was Tettsui. Now it says it's Tessei. Either could be correct, from the little I know about the kanji involved. My New Year's resolution is to write 1000 words a day.
Every day. Regardless of how many I might be 'ahead' by. I'll hopefully be well over that amount in general; 365,000 words in a year isn't that many by my standards. But for the past two years I doubt I've had even 200K in the year. My lifestyle changed abruptly and very significantly when I switched career tracks, and my old style of writing just isn't working anymore.
Normally when I write, I sit down and write a whole chapter at once. I HATE being interrupted and trying to pick up a scene in the middle later on. So I write in chunks, and once upon a time, I seemed to have no trouble finding lots of chunks. So even though I didn't write more than two or three times a week, I was still very productive.
Now, though, I just don't have that much time all at once. I'm falling behind, I'm not keeping up even with my fanfiction committments, let alone working on original stuff. I didn't write a single word for NaNo this year, and that upsets me.
So, we'll try it this way. If I can force myself to write 1000 a day no matter what, maybe I'll finally learn to write in small bits instead of large chunks. Either way, if I don't do SOMETHING drastic my writing quality is going to continue to slide.
Normally I don't bother posting about resolutions, but maybe having people to hold me accountable to it will make me actually DO it.
It's time to swim or get out of the pool. If I'm serious about writing, I should be able to do this. If I can't commit to this... then I'm not serious about writing.
(Obviously Foresight was not finished by the end of the year as I'd hoped. But maybe this way I'll actually make some bloody progress on it. ;p) | |

Well, I finally figured out why there were so MANY typos and problems with the last two chapters I posted. I have two copies of this fic on my computer... the one I collated directly from our RP sessions, and the one that we each took a turn editing. Guess which one I've been C&Ping from. *facepalms* I fixed chapters 2 & 3 - there are no major changes, just fewer typos and fewer places where we repeat things the other one just said, or phrased things awkwardly, etc. As of this chapter we are now getting into the series timeline, and we will be describing events that happen in the anime (and presumably the manga, but I haven't read it so I don't know how much the anime deviates from it). Just as importantly, we will also be skipping major events and referring to things that happened in the series, working on the assumption that everyone reading this will understand what we're talking about. So if you don't want to be spoiled or confused, you'd better watch the series first. Title: It's My Party...
